Order for caesarean section

In England, the court exercising its inherent (parens patriae) jurisdiction recently made orders permitting a caesarean section and ancillary medical treatment. The woman suffered mental illness which was poorly controlled during her pregnancy, leading to her disoriented state and lack of capacity to consent to the procedure: Greater Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust v AA & Ors [2014] EWHC 132 (Fam).
