Prosecution under National Law – Misuse of protected title “psychologist”

AHPRA issued a media release today, confirming conclusion of the first prosecution of an offence under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law.

The Magistrates Court of Western Australia accepted a guilty plea of a person who had been charged with using the title ‘psychologist’ and claiming to be a registered psychologist when she had not been registered for a number of years in breach of the National Law.

A $20,000 fine was imposed.

The media release helpfully provides a list of protected titles.
