Mental health law changes in Victoria

CCH Tracker reports that the Mental Health Act 2014 (Victoria) will commence on 1 July 2014.The new legislation is said to involve:

significant changes to compulsory assessment and treatment of people living with mental illness and ensures they are supported to make or participate in decisions about their treatment and care. The important role of families and carers in supporting the mentally ill is also recognised in the new scheme.


The new legislation is not yet available on Austlii as an Act, but is available in Bill form.
